1/22/2021 0 Comments Time to Buy!Now that a couple of weeks have gone by in the school term, it's now time to begin the construction of our prototype, starting with our wallets. We knew going into this already that this was going to be an expensive project, but YOLO + Cali money helps us there. We spent over a staggering $1,000 on the motors alone, as well as its accessories (mounting, washers, bolts, etc). So yes, we did in fact one-shot our FYDP budget for the year in only one transaction, but that's okay, because we're excited to get started.
Meanwhile, we have already planned out everything else to buy, namely where to buy our electrical components and get our mechanical parts 3D printed. But we figured it would be best to wait for the motors to come in first so we can see them in person. Due to COVID-19, we've altered how we're going to build up the robot. First, we'll fully assemble the mechanical parts together, then hand it off to someone else to integrate all the electrical components with it, and then hand it off again to incorporate the software and controls aspects. This pandemic has certainly affected our ability to develop the project, but have no fear, we'll find a way to get it done.
